In Sardinia, French and Italian archaeologists have found traces of baking bread dating back to over 7000 years ago and it was bread. Modern pizza, on the other hand, originated in Naples in the 18th century. Initially it was a popular dish among the poorer classes because it was cheap, tasty, and easy to eat.
